This project spanned six different countries and multiple trade routes. It involved navigating an evolving political landscape in both the UK and the EU.
The following is an account of Aport’s adaptation of routes & storage options due to post Brexit implications.
This landscape had been shaped by the UK’s departure from the European Union and the effect of Brexit.
Aport took on the formidable task of providing international relocations with customs compliance and a range of agile responses.
These responses were designed to mitigate against border delays and additional costs.
Many logistics companies would have struggled to adapt to post Brexit logistics. There were a host of new challenges for managing supply chains in and out of the United Kingdom and Northern Ireland.
Aport is so much more than a logistics company though.
Aport has the advantage over other relocation companies, importers and exporters due to their scientific approach to every project.
The comprehensive scope of work encompassed the meticulous packing and marking of assets at origin. It also involved utilization of multiple transportation methods and adaptation to new documentation and storage options to address Brexit implications.
At every stage, Aport engaged closely with the client. Aport’s teams overcame the challenges of operating under new trade and transport regulations. This demonstrated agile project management and dynamic implementation on the ground.
The project’s tight timescales were compounded by Brexit implications. There were additional complexities for customs processes related to six different destination countries.
Aport showed adept navigation of these challenges and a commitment to providing agile responses. Aport showcased their ability to deliver high-stakes international relocations and navigate Brexit-related complexities. This positions Aport as the leading partner in global relocations for the long term.
Aport has experience in delivering high quality relocation projects all around the globe. Our expert teams work to the Aport standard to deliver the same superior service, wherever in the world you are moving to and from.
The key to managing international relocations like this is having reliable teams on the ground in the relevant countries.
Local knowledge is invaluable for our teams when navigating the changes in legislation from one continent and country to the next.
This was a multi-site relocation and delivery project.
Relocations of this scale and nature can be complex.
Essentially, it is several different relocations rolled into one. Aport excels in simplifying complex relocations like this. Our clients are able to focus on their research and core competencies whilst we take care of the logistics.
The project involved 6 different countries. Some of the destination countries were in the EU. The UK including Northern Ireland were in the process of leaving the EU.
The evolving political landscape of Brexit created additional logistical challenges for Aport.
Customs and documentation support is always a major feature of Aport’s project management offer. In this case, this support was even more important than it usually was. This was due to the new regulations and systems in place following the UK’s departure from the EU.
At the time, there was a considerable amount of uncertainty in the industry due to Brexit. Aport’s teams needed to apply all of their existing knowledge and experience. They also needed to combine this with proactive responses and enthusiasm to understand new legislation, rules and regulations.
Aport offers full scale relocation support for its clients. This can come in the form of full project management in the form of the Aport Single Source Solution. With this approach, we handled everything on behalf of the client.
Some clients may choose to use just one aspect of our services, such as freight or storage.
In this case, both freight and storage solutions were required from Aport for this project. The Aport Single Source Solution is the perfect package for this type of offer. This whole project approach means Aport is well placed to provide every element of a client’s relocation.
Aport arranges the physical decommissioning and recommissioning of any equipment. We are also responsible for the packing, labelling and transit of items from the origin site to the destination site.
The scope of our work within the Single Source Solution is not limited to manual labor though. Aport liaises with all other stakeholders on behalf of the client. This includes Original Equipment Manufacturers (OEM’s), our in-house DGSA’s, your teams on the ground and any other partners including those we may work with for freight and transit.
Each relocation Aport undertakes is different. There are often lots of moving parts and the potential for changes. This requires dynamic planning, risk assessment and project coordination.
Where possible, every eventuality is planned for and the experience our teams possess is invaluable in shaping our decision making.
Aport teams packed and marked all assets at origin. Experience, knowledge and specialized packaging ensured that the assets were ready for transportation. This specialized packaging offer extends to both packaging materials and packaging methods.
Multiple methods of transportation were utilized for this project. Aport has experience in relocation projects using a wide range of transport types. We frequently used road freight, including temperature controlled trucks. We also have experience with air freight, train freight and air freight. For every relocation project, a bespoke transport plan forms part of the offer.
The type of transportation used for each facet of this relocation project depended on the final destination of the assets.
Aport’s experienced and knowledgeable teams were responsible for scrutinizing new documentation for multi-site deliveries.
In addition to the usual work streams, Aport needed to be flexible and proactive for this relocation. The adaptation of routes and storage options due to Brexit implications was a new task for the teams to deal with. This was handled well by Aport’s flexible and responsive teams on the ground.
Experience is something we rely on. It is also something we are continuously adding to. This project presented opportunities to learn about the new regulations and legislation implications of Brexit. Our teams never miss an opportunity to blend their existing knowledge with dynamic learning. All of this works in the favor of our clients who receive first class service on their relocation.
This project posed new challenges following the UK’s exit from the European Union.
Aport teams worked with the client to overcome the obstacles of working under new regulations for trade and transport.
This included finding alternative routes and temporary storage solutions. This may have been one of the first instances of navigating the new rules and regulations for laboratory relocations. There is no other laboratory relocation company who could’ve provided better assistance or project management than Aport.
The project required agile project management. Learning on the job was also necessary. There were several examples of new understanding calling for dynamic implementation on the ground.
Fortunately, Aport are proactive by nature and responsive when necessary.
Most relocation projects come with challenges. With Aport’s detailed and comprehensive planning and risk management processes, we are able to foresee most challenges. This enables us to plan effectively and to make suitable contingency plans.
Our flexible teams also have the ability to act responsively in the event of something unexpected happening.
For this project, two main challenges were present. These were the tight timescale and the customs complexities.
Timescales were extremely tight on this project. These timescales were made even more difficult to stick to by the impact of Brexit. There were serious implications for the logistics industry as a whole.
There were a number of customs complexities to deal with. This was due to there being 6 different destination countries and the different rules and regulations within each country.
Aport’s adaptation of routes & storage options due to post Brexit implications delivered a successful project despite the challenges.
